Butterflies along the Beeline Highway - with Ron Rutowski
location:
Saturday, March 14, 2026
8:00 AM - 1:30 PM
Please join us as we will travel up the Beeline Highway (State Route 87) first stopping briefly at Round Valley and then head to Sunflower Valley. In Round Valley we will view the damage that the vegetation sustained in the Bush Fire. We will see what butterflies are around now. Especially those who have visited this site previously will find this interesting. From there we will head to the upper end of the old and now closed Beeline Highway where it parallels Sycamore Creek and walk down Sunflower Valley on the road about a mile to the old Forest Service work center. Some plants such as Ceanothus will hopefully be blooming and water could running be in some stretches of the creek. Potential sightings of interest include Two-tailed Swallowtail, Zela Metalmark, Juniper Hairstreak, Brown Elfin, Sagebrush Checkerspot, and other species.
A donation of $5 per person to benefit CAzBA will be appreciated.
