Field trip report: Locket Meadow (Flagstaff) by Kurt & Cindy Radamaker
Thanks to everyone who attended the Flagstaff Butterfly Field Trip. It was a nice trip and we really lucked out on the weather, at least until noon! If it has stayed sunny just a bit longer I think we would have added a few more species!
Butterflies: Western Tiger Swallowtail, Dainty Sulphur, Orange Sulphur, Cloudless Sulphur, Checkered White, Pine White, Thicket Hairstreak, Marine Blue, Arctic Blue, Boisduval's Blue, Spring Azure, Weidemeyer's Admiral, American Lady, Mourning Cloak, Hoary Anglewing (Comma), Common Buckeye, Arachne Checkerspot, Pacuvius Duskywing (pictured), White Checkered-Skipper, Garita Skipperling, Taxiles Skipper.
Moths: Forrester Moth (Police Car Moth)
Mammals: Gunnison’s Prairie Dog, Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel, Rock Squirrel, Gray-collared Chipmunk
Reptiles: Tiger Salamander (Aquatic Larvae), Terrestrial Gartersnake, Plateau Lizard
Obvious Birds: Clark’s Nutcracker, Lewis’s Woodpecker, Acorn Woodpecker, Pygmy Nuthatch, Western Bluebird
