Field trip report: Round Valley by Ron Rutowski

On 21 March 2015, 13 participants explored areas along the Beeline Hwy for early spring flyers. Because of the warm weather, there were many butterflies around. A total of 32 species were seen: Two-tailed Swallowtail, Pipevine Swallowtail, Dainty Sulphur, Sleepy Orange, Orange Sulphur, Southern Dogface, Mexican Sulphur, Checkered White, Sara Orangetip, Zela Metalmark, Fatal Metalmark, Juniper Hairstreak, Marine Blue, Spring Azure, Reakirt’s Blue, Acmon Blue, California Patch, Variable Checkerspot, Sagebrush Checkerspot, Tiny Checkerspot, Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Common Buckeye, Mourning Cloak, Variegated Fritillary, Queen, American Snout, Checkered Skipper, Northern White Skipper, Funereal Duskywing, Meridian Duskywing, Fiery Skipper.
