PROCLAMATION

Dr. Ronald L. Rutowski’s sustained interest, advice and encouragement in research and in public education  for more than ten years are recognized , appreciated and hereby proclaimed.

WHEREAS,  Dr. Rutowski was a witness  before, during and after the  hearings of  Arizona’s House Bill 2247 on  behalf of designating  the Two-tailed Swallowtail Papilio multicaudata, Arizona’s State insect/butterfly symbol. He celebrated the signing ceremony by Governor Jane Dee Hull and the attendance of Arizona State Representative Laura  Knaperaek,  principal introducer of the Bill in 2002.

WHEREAS, Dr. Rutowski  in 2006, was instrumental in forming and establishing  the Central Arizona Butterfly Association (CAzBA) the second  Arizona chapter of the North American Butterfly Association ( NABA).   In addition, he helps plan and  joins  in CAzBA field trips and annual  butterfly counts.

WHEREAS, Dr. Rutowski reviewed and edited highlighted portions of the Butterfly Quest website during its national competition and as it was awarded the OVERALL WINNER  by the prestigious National Gardens Club, Inc., the largest garden  organization known,  ( March, 2007).

WHEREAS, Dr. Rutowski promoted the Butterfly Quest website  www.butterflyquest.net during its inception and as it received designation as  an Arizona Centennial Legacy Project,  in the Butterfly and Garden issue, on the 8th day of March, 2012.

NOW, THERFORE, we who salute him as a Scientist and a Teacher proclaim today a

RONALD L. RUTOWSKI DAY

We honor  Dr. Rutowski’s past leadership and accomplishments in his chosen areas of interest. We anticipate his future success in his endeavors and join to help him  make Arizona the most  butterfly friendly state possible.
