BTA Butterfly Count with Chris Kline
location:
Saturday, August 11, 2007
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Join us at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum on Saturday August 11 as we try our hand at the first official NABA 4th of July Butterfly Count at Boyce Thompson. Counting starts at 9AM. Currently 71 species of butterflies appear on the Arboretum's checklist, while the record for most species observed in a single day is 38 by John Saba in October, 2005. This monsoon season count should yield some interesting observations. ---The count will be led by the Arboretum's Education Director Chris Kline, a long time butterfly enthusiast and monarch researcher. Chris and his corps of expert volunteers lead monthly butterfly walks and counts at the Arboretum from March through October. The Arboretum is located on US 60, about 20 miles east of Apache Junction.
